Surface Condition
Stainless steel has a protective passive surface film. Iron contamination and other residues introduced during fabrication, handling or processing can affect its normal corrosion resistance.

KUN-QI provides stainless steel passivation services for business customers in Taiwan and overseas. Share your component material, surface condition, quantity and technical requirements for a processing assessment. Sample and batch enquiries are welcome.
Stainless steel has a protective passive surface film. Iron contamination and other residues introduced during fabrication, handling or processing can affect its normal corrosion resistance.
Chemical passivation can remove free iron and certain metallic contaminants from stainless steel surfaces, helping to support the formation and stability of the protective passive film. The treatment method is selected according to the component material, surface condition and applicable specification.
Process selection and verification follow the material, surface condition and agreed requirements.
Customers should complete the necessary cleaning and degreasing before delivery. KUN-QI provides stainless steel passivation services; we do not undertake heavy-soiling removal or specialist degreasing.
Stainless steel grade, heat treatment, weld condition and service environment inform process selection; component geometry is also assessed.
Agree the specification, revision, test method and acceptance criteria before verification.
Photographs or drawings, material, proposed quantity and inspection requirements help us assess your enquiry.

Confirm the surface condition on delivery, passivation requirements, applicable specifications and related needs.
Once components meet the delivery requirements, carry out stainless steel passivation under the agreed processing conditions.
On completion, we issue a passivation certificate for customer records and quality management reference.
The certificate records the passivation work carried out by KUN-QI. It is not a third-party inspection report and does not imply that every batch has undergone salt-spray or other laboratory testing.
Visual inspection, contamination checks and corrosion tests answer different questions. Not every method suits every stainless steel, and a list of methods does not mean that all must be performed.
Check visible residues, surface condition and agreed acceptance requirements.
Select methods from the applicable specification. Confirm material suitability for tests such as copper sulphate testing.
Select the method, conditions and acceptance criteria for the specification and application, retaining the link between conditions and results.
Salt Spray Testing Standards ↗Passivation requirements may specify ASTM A967/A967M, MIL-STD-171E Finish No. 5.4.1 or AMS 2700. ASTM A380/A380M provides guidance on cleaning and related treatments, while ASTM B912 addresses electropolishing passivation. QQ-P-35 is a historical specification. Processing and acceptance requirements are reviewed against the applicable drawings and specifications.

↗This finish references the historical QQ-P-35 specification. Applicable revisions, processing conditions and acceptance requirements are reviewed against the customer’s engineering drawings.

↗QQ-P-35 is a cancelled legacy specification. When working with an older drawing, confirm the governing revision and replacement requirements with the customer rather than changing the purchase or acceptance basis unilaterally. DLA ASSIST ↗
Please prepare components to meet our surface condition on delivery requirements before sending them.
They are distinct process terms. Electropolishing can produce passivation under suitable conditions, but chemical passivation, material, surface requirements and governing specifications still need to be identified separately.
SMT and passivation are separate core technologies. Test data applies to its documented components and conditions; figures on the SMT page are not presented as passivation test results.
Please provide the material specification or reference, component photographs, dimensions or drawings, surface condition, intended use, quantity and inspection requirements.
Send component photographs or drawings, the material specification or reference, surface condition, proposed quantity and inspection requirements. We assess sample and batch enquiries individually; lead time and order quantity are agreed following review.
